Privacy and Confidentiality Notice

I respect the privacy and confidentiality of everyone who uses my services. I handle personal information in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Information I collect

I collect and retain basic personal information, including contact details and correspondence solely for the purpose of providing and administering psychotherapy, maintaining appropriate records and meeting my professional obligations. This may include sensitive information relating to your mental health and personal circumstances.

Storage and security

I keep brief, anonymised process notes in a locked room at my home. Electronic correspondence and personal information are stored on password-protected devices and accounts. Information is retained only for as long as necessary to meet my professional and legal responsibilities, and securely disposed of when no longer required.

Confidentiality

Information shared in therapy is treated as confidential. However, confidentiality may need to be limited where there are serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, safeguarding concerns, or where disclosure is legally required or justified in the public interest. Wherever possible, I would discuss this with you beforehand.

I may also discuss my work in professional supervision, taking care to anonymise information wherever possible.

Electronic communication

Email and other digital communications cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure. Third-party providers, such as email, website hosting and payment services, may process or store personal information as part of their services.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information and, where applicable, its deletion or restriction. You can also raise concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk.
